KMZ Industries, like other Ukrainian companies, faces a labor shortage, but automation of production processes is helping to reduce it.
“We hire people from our hometown (Karlivka, Poltava region), as well as from Poltava and Kharkiv. We outsource some technological operations to optimize production,” – Valeriia Kalashnyk, CEO of KMZ Industries, told Latifundist.com.
In total, she said, the company has mobilized 17% of its employees who are subject to military service. Half of those liable for military service have been registered in accordance with the law. KMZ Industries operates in the machine-building industry, which is dominated by male professions that are extremely difficult, and in some areas almost impossible, to replace with women.
“We continue to automate production processes in the company, which we started even before the full-scale invasion. For example, we perform machining operations on CNC machines. Two such machines have been replaced by universal machines, which has reduced the shortage of personnel by 5-6 workers. We are in the process of purchasing welding robots to automate the welding area. After all, there is a shortage of these specialists in Ukraine as well: it is a profession that women rarely choose. Although we have an example of a girl who works as a welder. We appreciate her and hope that she will stay with us for a long time,” – Valeria Kalashnik added.
