Khrystynivske grain storage complex

KMZ Industries and Alebor Group, which owns Khrystynivske, have a long-term cooperation.

Its first stage was in 2009-2012. During this period, hoppers with a diameter of 7.3 m, flat bottom silos with a diameter of 16.5 and 27.5 m, and chain conveyors were installed.

Later, in 2017-2018, the complex was expanded, and KMZ Industries also acted as a supplier of grain storage equipment.

Now, at the Khrystynivske complex, the following are installed:

• silos with a capacity of 136,000 tons of simultaneous storage;
• hoppers with a capacity of 6,000 tons;
• 2 DSP grain dryers with a capacity of 50 t/h;
• KBS grain cleaners with a capacity of 150 t/h;
• conveying equipment.

In 2017, a Brice-Baker grain dryer with a capacity of 168 t/h was installed. In 2018, it was modernized: the BB.SCN 16/72 model was expanded to BB.SCN 16/120 (2 sections were added to the existing ones). Now a 12 m long grain dryer is operating at the complex, with a productivity of 280 t/h.

In 2018, the KMZ Industries’ design bureau developed a new scheme for a reversible scraper conveyor especially for this complex. Its task is to connect existing and new storage capacity after the expansion of the complex and ensure the transfer of products, taking into account the routes that have appeared. Conveyor features: long transportation length (60 m), productivity (175 t/h) and placement on a catwalk.

These characteristics required the development of a unique solution. To provide the necessary productivity on such a large conveyor in reverse mode, a powerful drive is needed. Its classical placement in the center or offset to the side would lead to a local overload of the bridge. To avoid this, the conveyor provided two drive stations and a chain tensioning station located in the center of the conveyor, and the synchronization of the drives was implemented using a frequency converter. The drive is implemented by two geared motors operating synchronously.
